Out of all the candidates, there are two that we can relate to the most. For the readers who attend the University of Kansas, we actually have two candidates that have announced exploratory committees who are students at KU.
The first of the two’s name is Connor Birzer and he is 21-year-old junior at the University of Kansas. He is studying political science and communication (shocker) and is involved in the Student Senate, the Dean’s Student Advisory Council, KU Young Democrats, the Students Rights Committee and *deep breath* The Dole Institute of Politics. He also is a fan of Kathleen Sebelius, who we all know was notimated as the 21st United States Secretary of Health and Human Services back in 2009.
The candidate I relate to the most, without knowing much about the candidates personally, would be TJ Blake. Blake is from Hutchinson, KS and he is a champion debater from high school and also played tennis. He is a student at the University of Kansas and is studying political science and journalism. Blake is an active member of the Dole Institute of Politics and was a member of the 2012 Davis campaign- so he knows the ins and outs of being apart of a campaign with the insight of what it takes for reasonable compromise in Kansas politics.
Senator Chance Maginness-R
On February 4th, the announcement of Senator Chance Maginness’s filing of paperwork came-to-be in order to form an exploratory committee. He currently lives in Lawrence, KS with his husband and son. He is a University of Kansas graduate and studied constitutional law at the University of Virginia School of Law before settling down in Kansas. He currently holds a seat for the United States Senate and allegedly feels strongly about each state being guaranteed its constitutional rights and decreasing federal spending.
Basketball coach and Mayor of Salina, John Pauldine seems to have it all while exploring the opportunity to run for Governor of Kansas. Hutchinson native, he works for the KU Endowment after graduating from the University of Kansas with a degree in political science. Though he has no plans for a tour, he is currently trying to listen to the “ideas of the people” in order to come up with his decision for the future.
Where are the women at though?
